About Me:
I’m Blossom (they/them).
I’m a cosplayer and photographer with almost a decade in photographing costumes and cosplayers from all walks of life. I am mostly self taught, armed with a go-getter attitude and the power of try, try, and try again.
Although I’m a photographer, I graduated from James Madison University with a BFA in Studio Art (concentration: painting and drawing) in 2020. However, my painting and drawing background reflects in my photography, as my style has been described as “painter-like” by several fellow colleagues and clients.
Having been born in Virginia, and now living in Maryland, I am familiar with several locations around the DMV and along the East Coast to shoot in. I am more than willing to climb the highest mountains and traverse lakes to get the best shots for your cosplay. I’ve also shot at several big cons, most notably Magfest, Katsucon, and Otakon.
You’ll often see me running around at cons in cosplay, taking photographs, contorting my body to find the best angles for your cosplay, and screaming excitedly when I’ve hit a “eureka” moment during a session with a client. I am always happy to work with people, new and returning, inexperienced and veteran, and learn from them.
Let’s shoot!

Why "abraxasia?"
Sometimes I get some questions about my handle, like why I chose this and how to pronounce it. (For the record: it's ahh-brax-shia.)
Here's the backstory.
I'm a huge fan of Revolutionary Girl Utena. I've been an Utena fan since I was in high school - without diving into too much detail, this show has more or less changed my life, my media tastes, my way of perceiving the world, and what I consider true love. Because Utena draws significant inspiration from the coming-of-age novel Demian, written by Hermann Hesse, I read it.
I've always been drawn to media that features the sublime - media that contains the existential - media that has an implication that there's a world beyond what we were born to - so I felt at home reading Demian.
From the book itself, one quote struck out to me:
"The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas."
Ever since then, I've adapted the god Abraxas into my handle(s.) It was originally my handle for my art - but since I've shifted into photography, it's become my photography handle as well.
The quote above, and the concept of the gnostic god Abraxas, reminds me to look beyond and extract meaning and existence beyond what is immediately available to our senses. To strive for the sublime, where balance is struck between light and dark, movement and stillness, beauty and horror.
Yes, I really like RDR2 right now. (Also taken by my fiance, edited by me)
What else do you like?
I like the following media:
- Besides Utena, I'm also a fan of Penguindrum
- Rose of Versailles
- Nasuverse / Fate/stay night
- Ryukishi07 (Umineko especially)
- I was once a Genshin fan, but I'm more so a Zhongli / Neuvillette / Furina fan nowadays if anything.
- Bunta Tsushimi franchises, like Idolish7 and Mahoyaku.
- Gothic horror.
- David Lynch films.
- Musicals like Hadestown, Phantom, and Elisabeth das Musical. I also like watching the occassional Takarazuka musical.
- Male power fantasy films, like the John Wick series and Tollywood films.
- I've been particular to Rockstar Games lately, but have also historically enjoyed Zelda games as well.
Misc. fun facts about me:
- I also cosplay - and make my own cosplays most of the time, so if I'm not editing photos, I'm probably sewing, 3D modeling, vectoring, etc...
- Tea > coffee any day.
- Inspirations for my work: Caravaggio, Robert Mapplethorpe, Thomas Blackshear, Klimt, German Romanticism, and the Pre-Raphaelites. I'm a big fan of music videos for inspiration as well.
